Two days earlier…
“Look, Vlad, I’m not saying that this is nothing—”
“Silence! We need to use the code names from now on, Goth Girl! Why is that so hard for you to get?”
“Vlad, it’s ridiculous, I don’t want to—”
“It’s not Vlad any more, Goth Girl. Remember who the master here is…”
Lilith sighed heavily. “Fine. Thin White Duke, what I was trying to say is that we don’t need to be too worried yet. Just because the sucker Simsville Council roped into this stupid project of theirs has moved in now, doesn’t mean they’ll be successful, right? I mean, what kind of person takes a job where you have to stay in the middle of nowhere with Plum-all money for the rest of your life? Not someone super-smart, Thin White Duke. Besides, we’ve got Cal— uh, Glam Boy, on the ground in that food stall to keep an eye on things. It’ll be fine. Trust me.”
The morning after her little rendezvous, looking at that bush, Valerie didn’t know whether to feel inspired or repulsed. Sure, she’d had fun, but in hindsight she couldn’t have picked a worse sim to have fun with. He claimed he wanted to be a world-famous comedian, but so far was barely dragging himself out of bed to attend the occasional open mic. He was also kind of ugly, although… not at all bad in the bush…
It seemed repulsion won, though, as Valerie vomited violently into the leaves. “I need to find a better outlet,” she thought to herself as she wiped the corners of her mouth dry and headed for the shower.
After cleaning herself up, Valerie called up her friend, Lily Feng. She needed to talk to someone about what had happened the night before.
“It was weird, you know? Do you ever just feel, like… So overcome by desire that it doesn’t matter who, or where, or really even what, as long as you get that certain itch scratched?” Valerie knew she wasn’t coming across great, but what she really needed was just to vent to a friend.
“Uh, no, not really,” Lily replied curtly. “You know I’m unflirty, right? It’s one of the reasons I turn a blind eye to some of Victor’s… indiscretions. Besides, if the young ladies of San Myshuno love him that much, it cements his position as Mayor even more!”
Perhaps Lily hadn’t been the best person to talk to about this. Valerie really needed some more friends. “Oh, Plum… Sorry, Lily, I realise you probably don’t actually want to hear about all of this. How’s Victor doing, indiscretions aside?”
The conversation continued without note from there. Valerie did find Lily’s San Myshuno domination schemes a little boring, and thought Lily droned on about them far too much. Still, it wasn’t like she had a lot of options for people she could speak to; Lily’s number was the only one she had. Well, aside from his… But she didn’t want to speak to him ever again.
Valerie set about planting some new plants in her garden, since she’d earned enough money from the day’s harvest to buy a new planter box. She was beginning to find gardening quite relaxing, although with the rainy early Spring weather she was finding she didn’t have a whole lot to do beyond picking the flowers once a day. It gave her lots of free time to fish, and she was finding she was honing her fishing skills much faster than her gardening ability.
As the sky started to cloud over again, Valerie decided to research some of the plants she’d managed to grow, since she couldn’t water or weed any of them at that point. She learned a little about the strawberries, but it wasn’t much she didn’t already know. She found the whole research aspect of gardening a little boring, so once she’d dug up a little background on each of the plants growing in her garden, she decided to head back to the river to do some more fishing.
The sun set while she was at the river, but she really didn’t mind. She found a sense of peace while fishing that she just didn’t get from gardening yet. Perhaps it would develop with time, though. It gave her a chance to reflect a little more, and forgive herself a little for her little bush adventure. “It was just a one-time thing, it’s not like I’ll ever see that guy again,” Valerie thought to herself. “Besides, we were safe – it was only a WooHoo, so I don’t need to worry about any unwanted souvenir—”
It seemed the universe had a sick sense of humour, for as she was thinking those very words, confetti appeared around her and she suddenly noticed her stomach begin to expand.
Note from the Author: Hope you liked this latest entry in the series! I wasn’t planning for Valerie to get pregnant so early, but I have MC Command Centre installed and have the settings so that there’s a slim chance of pregnancy from WooHoo, just to add a little more risk to the game. Let me know what you think of this chapter, and the next one will be out on the 17th at 7pm GMT. Thanks for reading!
